Twitter Is Not...

I haven't been feeling great the past couple of days, so I've been camped out, watching a lot of television. Some great things like Golden Girls reruns, Glee, episodes of Ghost Hunters (I don't know why these shows all start with G's, but anyway). Then some potential crap like Toddlers in Tiaras, I Didn't Know I was Pregnant some show about this guy who helps girls in pageants, and a bunch of other drivel, mostly TLC.

But the best, or should I say, the worst was a preview for a new show on TLC called: (drum roll please) Monkey Moms. It is EXACTLY what you might think it is, it's not a show about apes raising their young, or about gorillas in the mist, it's reality show about people dressing up monkeys, putting them in strollers and calling them their children.

Seriously people, this is the downfall of our fucking society right here. We have totally lost sight of what are real stories, what is journalism, what is news in a way it's sort of the rapid falling away of what is real communication.

For instance, a show that drives me insane is Glenn Beck. *cricket cricket*... okay so that just goes without saying, Glenn Beck is a tool, but that's not actually who I'm talking about, I just wanted to say it. ;-)

No, seriously though, the show that drives me insane is Rick Sanchez on CNN. He has this show where basically the entire crux of the show, the entire driving force for his reporting is featuring Tweets, reading peoples emails etc. for about a FUCKING HOUR.

I'll say this one goddamned time: TWITTER IS NOT JOURNALISM.

But the worst part about it is that we're totally blurring the lines for what acceptable journalism is, and we're giving the microphone to idiots. Like Glenn Beck. Sorry, couldn't help myself. Really though, the fact is that Floozy776 is not a journalist, but we'll give them a megaphone to say enlightened things such as: "I wnt 2 a rstrnt b4 show wth my bff"...

We should all be blinking back tears, because this kind of horrible, insultingly bad statement is the kind of travesty that is regularly being broadcast on CNN. By Rick Sanchez. Parading under the guise of real, hard-hitting journalism.

Okay, done with soapbox.

First of all - Glee is the best new thing on TV this year. Totally.

I am the only person in the world who does not have a Twitter/Tweeter/Twizzler thing going on. This should not surprise you, as it is well known that I was The Last Woman To Start Blogging On The Face Of The Planet, and as soon as I started Blogging, here came all sorts of new things like this Tweaking, and now I'm behind the curve on THAT.

Oh well. It's just as well. I can't even make a comment without running to 500 words! ;)
